LONDON BRANCH
Bill Seymour reports:
‘A bit Brahms and List with two pens in my hand after trying out the Highland Fruit cake recipe from B&C 87, June 1996, but the Branch continue to thrive.
Our annual Cenotaph parade took place on Sun 28 April when we laid a poppy wreath on behalf of the Royal Norfolk Regtl Association. There were 15 present, the wreath laid by Ron Stokoe and the Branch Standard carried by Bill Stechman. Last Post and Reveille was sounded by a Royal British Legion bugler. Next year's ceremony will take place on 27 Apr at 11.30 am. Would anyone wishing to attend please be outside the old Home Office Building by 11.15am.
More recently, 13 of our members helped to swell the attendance at the Reunion Dinner in Norwich in September. It really is surprising how much reminiscing about people, events and places of years ago one can cram into a few hours at a Regimental Reunion Dinner.
Several attended the Field of Remembrance Opening Ceremony at St Margaret's, Westminster on 7 Nov.
One of our members, William Robinson, has had the honour of being made Chairman of the Midlands Area of the Burma Star Association. Well done, Bill!
We sadly report the deaths of our members Robert ‘Bob’ Colk, ‘Alf’ Rampling, Arthur ‘Nobby’ Hooker and George E Richards. Their obituaries appear in this issue following page N26.
We will remember them.
The London Branch meet on the first Monday of the month at ‘The One Tun’, Saffron Hill, EC1 and would welcome any ex-members of the Regt or members of other branches visiting the area.’
(Ace and Adeline celebrate their Golden Wedding on 14 Dec 1996. Ed.)
NOTE - At the AGM in Mar 02 it was unanimously agreed that the Branch be wound up but Members continue to support the Association.  Ed.)

NORWICH AND DISTRICT BRANCH
Gilly Banthorpe writes :
We regret to report that Walter ‘Dot’ Tunaley died on 16 May 1996 in the Priscilla Bacon Lodge. Until his recent illness he was a regular attender at Branch meetings. We also report the death of our member Roy Smith. Click here for their obituaries.
In B&C 83 Dec 94, Maj William Reeve wrote an article commencing, ‘Sometime ago I was approached by Mr W F Tunaley who I had first met in 1958 at RMA Sandhurst when he was the Senior Small Arms Instructor and I was starting out on a military career as an officer cadet in Intake 26.’
We had been privileged to hear Dot give two illustrated talks at Branch Meetings on his military career. His scrapbooks were fascinating.
The Norwich Branch have 28 paid up members.
At our Oct AGM the following officers were elected : President - Col WD Flower TD; Chairman & Secretary - Paul Boxall; Treasurer - Maj JL Raybould TD; Welfare & Entertainments Officer - Maj G Banthorpe; Visiting Officers - AC Storey and F Baker; Standard Bearers - Paul Boxall and Maurice Eke.
(The Treasurer presented the annual accounts with an acknowledgement to Paul Boxall who had maintained them during his absence in the Balkans. It was just as well the Treasurer had received adequate tuition from 'The Master' of accounts, Maj Fred Ayers TD. In the time honoured tradition so well taught by Fred, a judicious application of 'Adjustments' enabled the accounts to pass muster. Again, thanks Fred. Ed.)
A sub-committee consisting of John Slaughter, Maurice Eke and the Treasurer's word processor are to produce a Branch Brochure to encourage more former members of the Regt to join the Branch.
On 11 Nov we attended the Regimental Remembrance Service at the War Memorial Cottages, Mousehold, followed by coffee and biscuits.
Our President, Col Dick Flower, and Mrs Flower have graciously offered to host our pre-Christmas social meeting at their home from noon on Sun 15 Dec 1996, provided he gets his cap back from where he left it!
Following the success of the lunch in February, our Entertainments Officer, Gilly Banthorpe, organised a Sunday lunch for Branch members, ladies and guests, held in the Norman Centre on Sun 24 Nov 1996.
Our Visiting Officers Arthur Storey and Mr F Baker have visited several members both at home and in hospital. If you require assistance contact Paul Boxall via the Norfolk Section Editor.
All members offer their best wishes for Christmas and the New Year and remind ex-members of the Regt, both Regular and TA, that they would be most welcome to visit us at 11 am at the Norman Centre on the fourth Sunday of the month, except in April and September when the Regimental Chapel Services are held.
(Gilly Banthorpe was admitted to hospital on 10 Nov and members may wish to send this loyal old soldier a card through his son Gerald. Contact Gerald via the Norfolk Section Editor.
Contact Paul Boxall via the Norfolk Section Editor.
NOTE From Jun 03 we meet at 11 am at the Norwich RBL Club in Edmund Bacon Court, Aylsham Road, Norwich.
