TONY OOI
Tony Ooi wrote from Canada to say he had found the 6 RANGLIAN Dinner Club page at www.sandawana.freeserve.co.uk
Tony served with 1 RANGLIAN 1962-66 and remembers John H Keep (see Branch Report), CMJ Barnes (now Brig OBE and Chairman Suffolk OCA), Paul Long (now Lt Col OBE, former Commandant STANTA and Norfolk ACF County Commandant) and Dan Baily (now Lt Col MBE). The last time he saw Maj David Clarke was in Cyprus when he was with 3 RANGLIAN in 1966.
'Recently, I surfed to the RBL page. A former officer was looking for two Malaysian officers for a reunion of RMA Sandhurst 1958-1960 graduates. Within 4 hours, through my contact in Malaysia, I was able to trace the two officers. Unfortunately both passed away a few years ago.

On the RANGLIAN site at www.army.mod.uk/infantry/anglian is a photograph of a soldier guarding some Arabs. As the official Bn photographer in Aden. that photograph was taken by me!

(Is there a chance the perpetrator of inflicting that serious wound on Lt Paul Long is in the group?  Ed.)

Aden - Arabs guarded

Tony added:'I have lived in British Columbia, Canada, for the past 27 years and am now retired from the Civil Service.’
He asked about Maj WC Deller (now Brig OBE) so an e-mail trawl went out for info.
Col Dick Shervington TD (now DL) replied: ‘I see a good bit of Bill Deller who runs my shoot in Cambs. His last Army job was, I think, as Military Attache in Sudan. In ‘civvie strasse’ he is local Chairman of British Heart Foundation and is current President of Suffolk Regtl Association, Chairman of the Suffolk Regimental Museum Trustees, a ‘fairly’ recently retired Deputy Hon Col for Suffolk and a past Vice Chairman of Cambs TAVRA County Committee. His married daughter runs a marvellous hotel in Achiltibuie in the Western Highlands - the best wine list in Scotland. Estimated height and weight on request!’

Maj Stan Bullock MBE (Stan the Man R&Y) admitted he is now in possession of an omnibus pass and added some 1st Bn details for the period 1962-6: Feb 62 the Bn went to British Guiana, Arthur Campbell Commanding, Tim Creasey 2IC, Rear Party 62 was in Harwich then Felixstowe. Mar 64 Bn went to Aden, Jack Dye Commanding. There were plenty of soldiers called Oi'h!

Ben Turner responded: Tony Ooi and I were in the same company and I knew him quite well. As you may guess, with the way his name was spelled, he was known as "Zero Zero One"!
