In Aug 1951, 10 Pl sailed for Korea on the Empire Orwell, all aged 19. They celebrated their 20th birthdays ‘Up the Sharp End’ in Jul or Aug 1952. Some gathered on 20 Jul 2002 at Reg Griggs‘ home in Essex, 50 years on.

All claimed to feel not a day older than in 1952, clearly demonstrated by the following sporting activities undertaken in Reg’s garden.

1. Zimmer frame racing.
2. Guess who takes the most pills.
3. Shortest period of consciousness between naps.
4. Most number of visits to the Khazi in 15 minutes.
5. Orthopaedic Crutch fencing.
6. Short Term memory Loss or ‘do you remember old so and so?’ competition.
7. Dodging the swinging lamp and Formation Line Shooting.

Although the fact was not registered in the photographic records, all wives were also present. Apart from their more obvious female attributes, they could be distinguished from their husbands by their looks of long suffering shell shock by proxy and constant cries of: Oh God not that damned ‘How 10 Pl saved civilisation from The Asiatic Hordes story again!’
