THE HOME SERVICE FORCE
The Home Service Force (HSF) was formed in 1982. A (Royal Norfolk) Coy, 6 R ANGLIAN, of which the Norfolk Editor was OC, based in the TA Centre in Aylsham Rd, Norwich, were honoured to be one of the pilot host units. The late Maj David Standley was its first OC. F Coy was regrettably only in existence for 10 years but its members formed a thriving association.
Activities arranged for 2003 include walks, hence the title WARMS, and a visit to France on the May Day weekend.
The Annual Dinner for members and guests will be held at a date to be announced. We anticipate a good mardle over old times will be had by all and some fairy stories relived. Past performance, Custom and Practice - call it what you will - will probably be matched. That is, no one will hear former OC, Maj Ron James TD CS DC, Late The Rocking Horse Rangers, bang on the bar with a sponge calling for attention from those who wish him to buy them a round!

A key player in the HSF EYSWTLY Players (Every Year Something Worse Than Last Year) was Maj Arthur Woodward, the last OC, often cast as a twit!
In 1986 at the HSF Reunion Dinner the highlight of the evening was a theatrical production of 'Cinderella in Boots' . It starred Arthur (wearing his Royal Naval mess jacket and green wellies) as the 'Lt Handsome Prince'. Another year, in the ‘Wizard of Oz’, Arthur (wearing his Royal Navy cap, Army pullover and green wellies) was the ‘Officer without a brain’
Capt Ray Page reminds us: ‘CSM Geoff Fletcher and I told Arthur what to say, he said it and we made sure we did it!’ Former PARA and HSF CSM Geoff Fletcher went on to become Norfolk ACF County Wpn Trg Offr, retiring from that appointment in 2000.
For details of WARMS activities, contact the Secretary: Tony Watson, via the Norfolk Editor.
He has had a new knee fitted and we look forward to seeing this bionic HSF soldier in action!
