PTE PIKE AND DAD’S ARMY B&C 94 Jun 00
There has been recent renewed interest in the classic British television comedy, filmed in Thetford and on the Stanford Battle Area.

Opposite is Pte Alec Pike in 1941 in a Home Guard Section at Earlham Green Pill Box. His sister lived nearby and brought him lunch. Was her name Dolly?

From left: Percy Hewitt, Lou ?, Alec Barr, Brick Golder, Charley Gathercole, Joe Ransom, Frank Goodall and Harry Pymer.
Charley Gathercole, with patch, lost his eye in WW1. It was taken out by a bullet and as he was lying on the ground a shell burst overhead, causing a long wound in the same area of his face.
The decorations of Brick Golder were: DCM when a Sgt, MC when CSM, three MiD (one signed by Earl Haig) and The Order of The Russian Bear !

Opposite, left, is Pte Alec Pike in a more familiar guise, 58 years later in the Officers` Mess at Aylsham Road at a Norwich Branch lunch in Dec 99, sitting opposite Maurice Eke.

We know him now as CSM Alec Barr!
